近日，，友达光电（AUO）宣布第二季度电池板面板利用率将从接近满载减少到90-93％，以避免第三季度库存积压。
友达光电全球业务部执行副总裁保罗鹏表示：液晶电池板市场出货量过去5个季度出现了季度性持续增长，因此，适时调整使用率将有助于维持整个市场的健康发展。他还补充道，如果其他电池板制造商跟风仿效，第三季度后半期即可实现市场回归正常季节模式。
友达光电总裁陈洛伊指出，第三季度友达光电的总容量预计将增长4-5％，包括其新收购的新加坡子公司AFPD的一个4.5G生产线。公司每月代容量将从目前的12万基板增加至13.5万基板。他还指出，友达光电的7.5代线可同时生产IT和电视面板，友达光电将根据市场需求调整产品结构。
友达8.5G的新厂计划于2010年下半年开始安装设备，2011年可投入生产，初始容量为45000基板。该工厂设计每月可容14万基板。
友达光电公司从2011至2022年将投资4,000亿元（125亿美元）在台建立两个11g TFT - LCD面板工厂和两个太阳能发电厂。
随着TFT - LCD及太阳能业务的增长，明年友达光电计划招募约2000名员工，只要从事销售业务，另需400-500名员工负责太阳能电站运作。
AU Optronics (AUO) has announced it will reduce its panel utilization from close to fully-loaded in the second quarter of 2010 to 90-93% for the third quarter to avoid inventory pileups.
The LCD panel market has seen shipments grow quarterly in the past five quarters, and adjusting the utilization rate will help maintain the health of the overall market, said AUO executive VP of global business unit Paul Peng, adding that if fellow panel makers follow suit, the market will return to the normal seasonal pattern as early as in the second half of the third quarter.
AUO's overall capacity is expected to increase by 4-5% in the third quarter, including a 4.5G line of its newly acquired Singapore-based subsidiary AFPD, and an increase in monthly 7.5G capacity to 135,000 substrates from the current 120,000 substrates, noted AUO president LJ Chen. AUO's 7.5G line can produce both IT and TV panels and AUO will adjust the product mix based on market demand, he said.
As for its 8.5G plant, equipment installation is scheduled for the second half of 2010 and will start production in 2011 with an initial capacity of 45,000 substrates. The plant is designed to house a total of 140,000 substrates per month, the company added.
AUO also plans to invest NT$400 billion (US$12.5 billion) from 2011-2022 to build two 11G TFT-LCD panel fabs and two solar energy plants in Taiwan.
With TFT-LCD and solar energy businesses growing, AUO plans to recruit about 2,000 employees the next year mainly for its display business, and another 400-500 for the solar energy operation, the company said.
