Although one of the fastest construction times for a large-scale solar utility plant, actually selling the facility took Q-Cells slightly longer. Nordcapital, a Hamburg based issuing company for closed end funds, acquired 51MW of the 54MW plant in Strasskirken, Germany for an undisclosed sum. The remaining 3MW will be available for public participation, according to Q-Cells. The park is the world’s second largest crystalline solar generating facility (230,000 modules) built to date and was developed by Q-Cells International.
“The availability of the entire value chain within the Q-Cells Corporation – from the solar cells to the solar modules to the final systems – means that we can supply our customers with quality solutions of the highest standards at attractive prices”, said Nedim Cen, Chairman of the Board, Q-Cells.
Nordcapital has also awarded a service and maintenance contract to QCI in addition to the continuous security monitoring for the facility
