Edison International's (EIX) Southern California utility said Wednesday it has agreed to buy 45 megawatts of solar panels from Chinese manufacturer Trina Solar Ltd. (TSL).
Trina's American depositary shares closed 4.6% higher, at $16.40. Shares of Edison closed 0.7% lower, at $32.05.
The deal is part of Southern California Edison's five-year, $875 million program to own and install 250 megawatts of solar power generators on rooftops throughout the utility's service territory. Trina began shipments last month.
